Retail at Christmas

You have no idea how busy we have been? My personal life has been so neglected as we wade through box after box of new stock. It's very exciting. I mean its like Christmas every day with all the cool stuff we have bought. The downside is the admin that goes with it. Working out prices, writing out price tags and then my favourite part - the merchandising. How I wish I could pop into an Anthropologie for a quick bit of inspiration (sigh) But, we are doing ok considering none of us have any training in this.

I have been quite stressed worrying that we dont have enough stock to see us through Christmas, then I worry that we have too much stock, only then to worry that I have bought all the wrong products.

Thank the Lord He is faithful in His advice and in giving us favour with our community. Everyone who comes into Fat Tuesday raves about how special it is and what wonderful stocking fillers we have. Everyday all day - It gets quite embarrassing actually. here is a sample of a few of our Christmas displays.

Back again

Wow its been a while since my last blog and I made a commitment to write one every week. Nevertheless here I am. With Christmas around the corner we have so much stock arriving every day its frightening. Spreadsheets, invoices, costings, bank transfers and delivery notes fill my days.

I walked down to this river every day.
It did all get a bit much so I went off to the mountains for a week all on my own. It was a very special time for me. I spent time praying for my friend's health (and her birthday), people's marriages, my husband and children's futures and direction for Fat Tuesday. My plan was to shoot the breeze with the Lord and get some guidance, input, revelation... something! Well we shot the breeze but the revelation only came once I was back in my car driving home with my music playing on loud. The revelation was that God can only use me when I am in my business being around people. Hiding in the mountains I am useless to Him.

So here I am back with the noise and the people and hopefully of some use to someone.

more fat

I have a dear friend who is going through a trying time. She is in my heart constantly and today I read on her blog that she may consider some surgery in order to gain weight....I imagined the outcome to be much like our artist Paul Mazufani's interpretation of African women.

fat first

I am so excited to be writing this blog. You see, its the first one i have managed to create that looks how I want it to look...well almost. I dont know who will read this one as there is a perfectly good one on our website but I thought it might be nice to have a more personal blog of the goings on at Fat Tuesday even if only Alex Buckle and I read it.
